These terms describe use of the BookNerd.ai free writing editor. By using the service, you agree to these terms. The Privacy Notice explains how information is handled.

1. Your writing and permissions

You retain your rights in manuscripts, images and other material you bring to BookNerd. BookNerd does not claim those rights. You allow the service to process and store that material only as needed to provide the features you choose, including optional cloud backups and support. Upload or include only material you have permission to use.

2. Accounts and responsible use

You can use the device editor without signing in. Google sign-in is required for cloud books and recorded support requests. Use an account you are authorized to access, protect access to your browser and account, and follow the sign-in provider's eligibility requirements. If you need permission from a parent or guardian to use an account or share personal information, obtain it first.

Do not use BookNerd to violate another person's rights, distribute unlawful material, interfere with the service, access another account, or bypass security and storage limits. BookNerd may restrict access when necessary to address abuse, security problems or legal requirements.

3. Free features and storage limits

The current editor has no paid plan, checkout or AI generation. Writing, formatting, search, manual chapter tools and supported exports are available without an API key. Optional cloud backups currently allow up to 100 books and 100 MB per account, with a maximum of 8 MB per book, including embedded images and snapshots. A cloud book can contain up to 2,000 chapters and 30 snapshots. Device storage depends on your browser and available space.

Free access does not promise unlimited cloud storage or permanent hosting. Features and limits may change. Any material change will be described in the app or these terms, as appropriate.

4. Saving, recovery and backups

You are responsible for keeping independent copies of important writing. Device autosave, the previous-draft recovery slot and version snapshots are useful recovery tools, but they do not guarantee against every kind of data loss. Cloud backup covers saved book content after you enable it; it does not include every original upload, unsaved draft or device setting.

Turning cloud backup off retains existing cloud copies. Deleting a book may remove both the device-library entry and its associated cloud copy after the app asks you to confirm. Downloaded backups and copies on other devices are separate. Review the app's confirmation before deleting a book.

5. Imports and exports

BookNerd supports text, Word and text-based PDF imports, with limitations. Editable imports and exports may use different layout, fonts, pagination or image placement from an original. Legacy DOC import extracts text. Scanned PDFs require a separate OCR step before their text can be edited. Original uploads can be downloaded unchanged only on a device that still retains them.

Review exported documents in the app where you intend to use them. Word, EPUB and browser print/PDF output depend on supported formats and the reading or printing software. Browser spellcheck and keyboard shortcuts also depend on your browser and language settings.

6. Availability and support

BookNerd is provided as a free beta and can have errors, interruptions or changes. It is not a guaranteed permanent archive or a substitute for your own backup. No fixed support response time is promised. For technical help, feedback or privacy questions, use Help & support and retain your request reference. Do not send secrets or unnecessary private writing.

These terms do not exclude rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

7. Updates to these terms

The date above identifies the current version. Updated terms will be posted here. Review changes before continuing to use affected features.
